This was my first time animating using a rig. All 5 animations have been fully animated by hand using maya. When I started on this project I wasn't sure yet what kind of a character I wanted to animate. My initial plan was a mime, but they often copy other people, which made it very hard to come up with a walk and jump animation. While testing different movements and filming references, this clown was slowly brought to life. They put up a very cheerful act, which is only broken for a moment after the balloon explodes in their face during the idle 2 animation.
I pulled apart the model a lot to exaggerate the movements. The model doesn't stretch, which is why there's a lot of disconnected pieces.
All the animations can transition smoothly into each other because they all start and end with the same pose (except for the walk cycle).
The model and rig I used aren't mine. You can find them here: https://friggingawesome.gumroad.com/l/mecha-mechs-proxy
